Global Payments Leader Peter Theunis Joins Paymentology as Principal Advisor

London, UK 24 MarchPaymentology, the leading global issuer-processor, today announced that Peter Theunis, a highly regarded leader in the global payments industry, has joined the company as Principal Advisor, supporting its global growth strategy.

Paymentology is entering its next phase of growth, expanding into new markets and strengthening its focus on unicorn fintechs, retail banks, and corporate banks. Supporting this ambition, Peter brings decades of leadership experience across the global payments ecosystem and is widely recognised for his ability to drive strategic growth, market expansion, and innovation across complex international markets. He is also recognised for supporting the launch of leading neobanks, driving the digitisation and transformation of traditional banking offerings, and fuelling the growth of fintech ecosystems globally.

Most recently, Peter served as Country Manager for Belgium & Luxembourg at Visa, where he led market development and strategic partnerships across the region. Over the course of his career, he has built a reputation as a respected leader across the payments and financial services industry, holding senior roles at BPC, Endava, OpenWay, and Clear2Pay, while also contributing to financial innovation initiatives with the UAE Ministry of Finance.

In addition to his corporate leadership roles, Peter has co-founded two fintech ventures and is also an angel investor, regular speaker, and recognised thought leader across the payments industry. He brings deep domain expertise across card issuing, merchant acquiring, money movement, and modern payments infrastructure. His breadth of experience across both established institutions and emerging fintechs gives him a distinctive perspective on how the payments industry is evolving globally.
